Steven T. Kuykendall
Over the past 35 years Mr. Kuykendall has served in both the private and public sectors, including a term as a member of the United States House of Representative and two terms as a member of the California State Assembly.

For the past seven years he has headed Steven T. Kuykendall & Associates, a consulting firm that interacts with the federal and local governments on behalf of business interests ' particularly transportation companies and defense contractors. Much of this work involves land use decisions, where Mr. Kuykendall works to find solutions that are environmentally responsible while fostering economic growth. He has been particularly successful in engineering land swaps ' an innovative solution to convert former military bases to civilian use.

From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Kuykendall served in the U.S. House of Representatives where he was a member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and of the Armed Services Committee. On the former he was a member of the Subcommittees on Aviation and on Water Resources and Environment where he was instrumental in securing funds to clean up and rejuvenate the waterways and wetlands of his district. On the Armed Services committee he was Vice Chairman of the subcommittee on Maritime issues.

He was a member of the California State Assembly from 1994 through 1998 where he was his party's Whip and oversaw the first 'clean' fiscal audit of the Assembly in 10 years. Mr. Kuykendall served as Chairman of the Select Committee on California Ports, Vice Chairman of the Labor and Employment Committee and as a member of the Utilities and Commerce Committee.

For over 20 years prior to his tenure in state and national elective office Mr. Kuykendall was in the private sector, working in the commercial and mortgage banking field. He started with Union Bank and Crocker National Bank, moved to Lockheed Finance Corporation where he was a member of the executive committee and the founder of Lockheed Mortgage Corporation, and then was, for 10 years, a principal at David Buxton Financial Corporation, a privately held real estate investment banking firm that specialized in large commercial transactions. During his last 4 years at this firm Mr. Kuykendall began his public service career as a councilman and the mayor of Rancho Palos Verdes.

Mr. Kuykendall has a BS degree in Economics from Oklahoma City University and a MBA from San Diego State University. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 ' 1973.
