Mr. Childs has 40 years of sales and marketing experience with general aviation aircraft, including direct sales and the management of dealership networks. He is currently an independent consultant.
Prior to his retirement in 2003 as Vice President Sales and Marketing at Raytheon Aircraft, he reported directly to the CEO and was responsible for worldwide sales and marketing for the company's entire product line of piston, turboprop, and jet aircraft with a 350 person Sales and Marketing Department and a $15 million budget. Mr. Childs was responsible for a global network that included direct sales of the most expensive aircraft and an independent dealer network for the distribution of the other product lines. Internationally, all aircraft models were sold through agents and dealers.
Mr. Childs oversaw major changes at Raytheon Aircraft, including the creation of the direct sales organization for the jets and input into the upgrade of the customer support organization. His involvement in the latter effort was focused on integrating this operation into the marketing effort.
Prior to 1994, Mr. Childs was Vice President Sales and Marketing at Sabreliner Corporation where he had worldwide sales and marketing responsibility for the Sabreliner business jet products and services.
Prior to joining Sabreliner in 1985, Mr. Childs was with Cessna where he held a number of positions, including Sales Manager for Citation Business Jet Sales for North America.
Since his retirement from Raytheon, Mr. Childs has been a consultant to various aviation-related businesses, including on a contractual basis with Raytheon. He currently serves on the Corporate Advisory board for Cohesia, a firm that provides supply chain management software.
Mr. Childs holds a private pilot's license for single and multi engine aircraft and has recorded over 1,200 flight hours. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wichita State University.
